Honda, 1981 Honda CB900F Super Sport
This 1981 Honda CB900F Super Sport is powered by a 901cc inline-four paired with a five-speed transmission and finished in black with red and orange graphics. Features include ComStar wheels, a cush-drive rear hub, triple disc brakes, a two-up seat, and both center and side stands. The bike was acquired by the seller in 2018, reportedly from a Honda technician, and subsequent maintenance by the seller included overhauling the brakes, fork, carburetors, and fuel petcock, painting the center stand, and replacing wheel and steering bearings, brake lines, throttle and clutch cables, and tires. This CB900F is now offered at no reserve by the seller in Wisconsin with an owner’s manual, a tool kit.
The bike is finished in black accented by graphics featuring red to orange gradients. The seller notes scratches in the paint and decals as well as a dent in the fuel tank.
ComStar alloy wheels were fitted with replacement bearings and mounted with 100/90-19″ front and 120/90-18″ rear Shinko 10 712 tires under current ownership. Suspension consists of an air-assisted telescopic fork that was overhauled with replacement seals, dust boots, and oil as well as dual adjustable shocks with piggyback reservoirs mounted to the swingarm. Braking is from dual discs up front and a single version at the rear. The seller notes that the master cylinders were overhauled and painted and that the calipers were fitted with Goodridge speed bleeders.
The bike is equipped with a chrome one-piece handlebar, dual mirrors, and top-mounted choke pull handle. Motion Pro throttle and clutch cables have been fitted. Instrumentation includes an 85-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 9,500-rpm redline, and indicator lights for oil pressure, neutral gear selection, high beam, and turn signals. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 12k miles.
The air-cooled 901cc inline-four was rated at 95 horsepower and 57 lb-ft of torque when new and features four valves per cylinder, 32mm Keihin carburetors, and a chrome four-into-two exhaust system. Maintenance work performed by the seller included:
Cleaning and synchronizing the carburetors and polishing the top covers
Adjusting the ignition timing, camshaft chain tensioner, and valve lash
Polishing the valve, alternator, and timing covers
