The 398cc two-stroke parallel twin features Yamaha’s Autolube oil injection system and a kickstarter, and factory-rated output was 40 horsepower. Service under current ownership reportedly included overhauling the oil pump and twin 28mm Mikuni carburetors as well as replacing the airbox, battery, ignition points, exterior oil seals, oil and fuel lines, and the chrome two-into-two exhaust system with re-packed mufflers. The fuel tank and side covers were refinished in their current shade of blue with replacement light blue, black, and white graphics under current ownership. The two-up seat, chrome front fender, turn signals, and mirrors were replaced as part of the refurbishment, and the bike is equipped with a chrome grab bar and both side and center stands.
